General Questions

 Hometown Holidays refers to Wimberley’s annual holiday events and celebrations throughout the year. During the Winter season, it encompasses the many Christmas and holiday events happening throughout Wimberley—from beloved community traditions to festive activities hosted by local businesses and organizations. 

HometownHolidays.com is managed by Visit Wimberley, the official tourism department for the City of Wimberley.

The website brings together information from the City, community organizations, local businesses and event organizers to help residents and visitors plan their time in Wimberley.

It is a collection of holiday events and experiences happening throughout Wimberley. Events are organized by several different community organizations, businesses and partners, so locations, schedules and admission details may vary.

Many Hometown Holidays events are free, including the Christmas Parade, Tree Lighting and most activities in the Downtown Christmas Courtyard. Some independently organized events may charge admission, require reservations or sell tickets.

The Downtown Christmas Courtyard is located at 101 Wimberley Square.

It is located directly in front of the Wimberley Cafe and is within walking distance of the shops, restaurants and galleries surrounding the Wimberley Square.

The courtyard is open throughout the Hometown Holidays season, beginning Saturday, November 28, 2026, and continuing through Sunday, January 3, 2027.

Scheduled entertainment, visits with holiday characters and other activities take place on select dates and times listed on the Winter Events calendar.

No. Visiting the Downtown Christmas Courtyard is free.

The courtyard features holiday lights, seasonal decorations, photo opportunities and scheduled entertainment and activities throughout the season.

Programming varies by date, so check the event calendar before your visit if there is a particular performance or activity you don’t want to miss.

Yes, the Courtyard is open 24/7, the lights are best enjoyed after dark. Daytime visits are still a great opportunity to take photos and enjoy nearby shopping and dining.

Yes! The courtyard is located in Downtown Wimberley, within walking distance of locally owned shops, restaurants, coffee shops, galleries and tasting rooms.

Yes. Please keep dogs leashed and under your control, clean up after them and be mindful of crowds, children, performers and other animals.

The 2026 Hometown Holidays Christmas Parade will take place on Saturday, November 28. The parade begins at 6:00 p.m.

We recommend arriving early to park, explore Downtown Wimberley and find a viewing spot before the parade begins.

The parade starts near Lion's Field and travels through Downtown Wimberley. A parade route and recommended viewing areas will be posted on HometownHolidays.com before the event. More information is also available through the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Plan to arrive at least 60–90 minutes before the parade begins. Downtown becomes very busy on parade night, and road closures may affect your usual route.

Come early, shop and dine downtown, and give yourself plenty of time to park and walk to the parade route.

The parade can be viewed from locations along the official route. Please remain on sidewalks or in designated viewing areas, follow instructions from event staff and law enforcement, and keep streets and business entrances clear.

No. Parade viewing is first come, first served. Please be courteous to other guests and do not block sidewalks, ramps, doorways or private property.

Yes, you may bring chairs for parade viewing. Please keep chairs out of streets, accessible pathways, business entrances and other restricted areas.

Yes. Temporary road closures and traffic changes will be in place before and during the parade. Allow extra travel time and follow all posted signs and directions from law enforcement and event personnel.

Specific closure information will be shared closer to the event.

The Downtown Tree Lighting takes place following the Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 28.

Because the exact timing depends on the parade, we recommend planning to stay downtown after the final parade entries pass.

The community Christmas tree is located in the Downtown Christmas Courtyard at 101 Wimberley Square.

No. The Hometown Holidays Christmas Parade and Downtown Tree Lighting are free and open to the public.

Holiday events are generally held outdoors and are subject to weather conditions. Any delay, cancellation or schedule change will be posted on HometownHolidays.com and Visit Wimberley’s official social media channels as soon as a decision is made.

Public parking is available in and around Downtown Wimberley, but spaces fill quickly during major events.

A parking map and any designated event parking areas will be posted before the Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting. Please park only in marked public spaces and do not block driveways, roads, fire lanes or private property.

Yes, public parking in Downtown Wimberley is typically free. However, there are a few paid lots available when needed.

During popular events, you may need to park outside the immediate downtown area and walk to the parade route or courtyard. Wear comfortable shoes and allow extra time.

Public restrooms are available at Oak Park Welcome Center at 250 Oak Drive Wimberley, TX 78676.

Additional portable restrooms may be provided during major events. Locations will be shown on the event map when available.

Please do not rely on individual businesses for restroom access unless you are a customer.

Downtown Wimberley includes accessible routes and viewing areas, but some sidewalks, surfaces and pathways may be uneven.

Yes! Hometown Holidays is designed for guests of all ages. Specific activities may have their own guidelines, schedules or capacity limits, so review individual event descriptions before attending.

Santa and other holiday characters will appear on select dates throughout the season. Check the Winter Events calendar for confirmed appearances, times and locations.

Yes! Personal photos are welcome unless an individual event states otherwise. Please be considerate of other families waiting and follow any instructions provided by the event host or photographer.

Most activities take place outdoors, so dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Hill Country temperatures can change quickly after sunset, so layers are a good idea.

Downtown Wimberley has many locally owned restaurants, coffee shops and tasting rooms. Food or beverages may also be available at certain events. Hours vary, and restaurants can be busy during major holiday weekends, so plan ahead.

Wimberley offers cabins, inns, vacation rentals, boutique lodging and RV accommodations. Visit VisitWimberleyTX.org to explore local places to stay.
