January 1, 2027: First Day Hike

Start 2027 off right with a First Day Hike at Karst Canyon Preserve! First day hikes are a great way to get outdoors and celebrate the start of the new year.
The Guided Hike of Karst Canyon Preserve will begin at 9am in Parking Lot A (please enter through Jacob's Well Natural Area main entrance).
Join us from 8:30am - noon for hikes, photo opportunities, educational tables, and more!
Visitors are also welcome to hike at their own pace.
January 2, 2027: Polar Bear Plunge & 5K
Celebrate the New Year with Blue Hole Regional Park’s annual Polar Bear Plunge & 5K! This event brings people together to start the new year off with a splash! The 5K route begins in Blue Hole, winds through downtown Wimberley, and ends with a plunge into the ice-cold waters of Cypress Creek! There is live music, food and drink vendors, games and prizes, a fire at the fire pit, and more!
Schedule:
- 9:00am: Event Check-In
- 9:30am: Stretching/Warmup
- 10:00am: 5K Begins
- 11:30am: 5K Ends
- 11:30am: Awards Ceremony
- 1:00pm: Polar Bear Plunge Ends
